Dr. Walter Sherwood founded Starfire in 1988. Dr. Leonard Interrante and Dr. Chris Whitmarsh joined Starfire® Systems Inc. in 1991 to demonstrate the usefulness of a newly developed and patented SiC precursor polymer, STARFIRE SMP-10, for the fabrication of advanced ceramic. Subsequent internal development has successfully improved polymer manufacturing efficiencies, broadened the product line, and demonstrated applications of this revolutionary new materials technology.

Starfire® Systems has continued to grow through the further expansion and market acceptance of this unique enabling polymer technology. The combination of a one component liquid silicon carbide forming polymer and our extensive materials engineering expertise affords our customers highly versatile, low cost, environmentally friendly advanced ceramic materials forming technologies.
